Silver Beats... them too.

The popcorn video - seems fake, and even implausible. Certainly I get annoyed, even if intimated that it is real.

notes... still updating.
I think collaborative computing requires social integration to mature to the next level. I do not believe any particular platform is relevant (it is, but not in the big picture), there will be many players and an open environment to build applications.

IMHO the next gen applications are going to be hugely useful.
Social $ Lending, Social Microlending, Social gifting, sharing and lending networks, social insurance are all applications I would use today if they existed.

>> trust relationships
I think this is a big tool as well. To easily

VoIP Ideas

updated (unedited/thinking aloud):
What is VoIP? voice over IP. Person to Person voice communications. Voice Messaging.
=====
VOICE
=====
Media? Communication?

Related Services
Translation. Speech to TEXT.

Clients and Client Devices?
PSTN, SIP, IM Clients. Web Sites. Streaming Audio software. Social Networks. RSS Feeds.

What am I looking for? What are the end results?

Delegation? VM/IM => CHAT/VOICE CHAT/CONFERENCE/TRANSCRIPTION/BROADCAST

Addressing? Internet Service Bus? Enum?

Ubiquitous IM / In lieu of standard phone.

Jeff Pulver's call for VoIP ideas.
http://pulverblog.pulver.com/archives/007256.html
Some interesting perspective from Jeff, and echoed in another article I recently read about the VoIP industry that I haven't got handy to offer as a link. But the summary is - the opportunity to do something interesting is available!

Brainstorming a little...
How do I use VoIP?
gizmoproject - my primary VoIP client. I have a very small IM list in Gizmo. and rarely logon. I use for outbound calling - and like the integration in WEB Applications. Mostly from a distribution work flow perspective - in that I can create data, and people can make and transcribe calls with me. Information is instantly shared as data is captured.
Skype - i will occassionally check out skype and make calls. I have used their call a bunch of people at same time feature.
Les.net - I have a few DIDs to play with, that are now associated with actual projects.
Intouch Networks - provide a "programmed" number for a charity event I am involved with.
ComputerJones.com - provides an asterix server to manage an IVR w/ inbound/outbound services setup. Web based call me now feature.
FWD - checked out, installed, uninstalled. But intend to take another look given the recent call to arms.

Unbundling? VoIP API
I have started an email and stopped several times starting to document and make a case for the creation of an API for VoIP services at In Touch and Les.  I still get excited by the notion. Why an API?
integration into applications/services, free and easy access to capabilities.

What would I build if I had time?
Online Classified phone number lending - ie extensions.
link to VoiceMail, EMail, Land Line - rules based on item status. ie if sold tell user the item was sold. if not sold forward call to my home during the day - if no answer - voicemail to email.
is this innovative?
maybe not - but it uses the technology in an effective way. (1) Privacy. (2) Complete control of incoming calls (3) Real time status on item. This feature would really encourage sellers to update status of item once sold. Adding value to web and real world environments.

Booty Line!
(temporary/privileged) numbers or extensions. w/ privacy features. linked to social networks. openid etc.
ie you can program how, when and where you receive phone calls.
